M8 WOODSIDE VIADUCTS: WORKS ON A804 PHOENIX ROAD COMMENCE FRIDAY 21st JULY 2023

M8 Woodside Viaducts Phoenix Rd Diversions

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential maintenance on the M8 Woodside Viaducts at the westbound A804 Phoenix Road from Friday 21st July 2023 until the completion of full repair. This phase involves the installation of the propping system and jacking of the structures. These dates are contingent on the completion of traffic signal upgrades on the local road network and are subject to change due to operational requirements. Please continue to check our website for updates.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using the M8 between junctions 16 and 17 and beyond, by improving the condition of the viaducts supporting the M8.

The work will be carried out under a full continuous closure of the A804 Phoenix Road, with signed diversion routes in operation.

Access to the area will be via St George's Road and Garscube Road or alternatively via North Street, Sauchiehall Street, Rose Street, Renfrew Street and Cambridge Street.

An alternative alignment is under construction at junction 17 to ease traffic and travel upon this route. This will allow traffic travelling westbound to freely access the M8 from nearby West Graham Street.

Traffic for the M8 westbound will be diverted via St George's Road onto Garscube Road then West Graham Street via a newly implemented right turn, and the newly constructed slip road at junction 17.

Eastbound traffic will continue to follow the existing traffic management arrangements.

Access to New City Road will be maintained via West Graham Street.

Footpath diversions will remain unaltered.

Access for emergency service vehicles via Phoenix Road will not be maintained throughout these works.

PLEASE NOTE: Vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion must follow the diversion signage at all times. Any vehicles which deviate from the published diversion route may be issued with penalty charge notice(s) from Glasgow City Council should they be captured out with the agreed diversion route.
