ESSENTIAL FOOTPATH IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A78 IN GREENOCK COMMENCE MONDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential footpath improvements on the A78 in Greenock, including resurfacing and bus border kerb installation, between Neil Street and Branchton Road in both directions from Monday 9th September until Friday 4th October. This work will take place on a 24-hour basis under progressive footpath and nearside lane closures. Temporary bus stops will also be in operation at this time. 

This work will be undertaken in phases: 

  • Phase 1 will be in place between Monday 9th September and Friday 20th September and will consist of a 24-hour nearside lane closure on the eastbound A78 carriageway between Gleniver Road and Neil Street. A total closure of the footpath in this location will also be in operation. Temporary bus stops will be in operation at this time. 

  • Phase 2 will be in place between Saturday 21st September and Friday 27th September and will consist of a 24-hour nearside lane closure on the westbound A78 carriageway between Neil Street and Branchton Road. A total closure of the footpath in this location will also be in operation. Temporary bus stops will be in operation at this time. 

  • Phase 3 will be in place between Saturday 28th September and Friday 4th October and will consist of a narrow lane restriction on the westbound A78 carriageway between Branchton Road and Branchton Train Station. A total closure of the footpath in this location will also be in operation. Temporary bus stops will be in operation at this time. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
